Our 10th Anniversary

I'm behind in writing- as usual- but we're in the process of moving, so I'll give myself a little pass. However, I have to document two weekends ago when Darreck and I went away to Fairmont Hot Springs to celebrate our 10th anniversary. It's been such a stressful month with the house hunt and Luke's annual allergy testing, and we needed a night away so badly. It was fantastic.

We left on Sunday after church and after Darreck was done with his second learning weekend. The drive down was beautiful, and after a very quick dinner, we hit the hot pools. Actually, Darreck was so impatient to get in the water he barely ate dinner. Love that big kid of mine! The pools were perfect and completely relaxing. After a quick Facetime call to tell the boys goodnight, we walked around the property, and it was the first time in a long time I haven't felt rushed, hurried, or was trying to multi-task. We wound up back in the pool but got hungry quickly; that'll happen when you almost completely skip dinner. Since Fairmont is in the middle of nowhere, the dining options are limited, which is how we came to wind up at a Taco Bell in Butte just after midnight. Yeah. That was weird, but in a fun way.

After a few hours of sleep and a very mediocre breakfast, we lounged around the pools for a few more hours before very, very reluctantly checking out. We stopped in Deer Lodge on the way home to check out the classic auto museum, old prison complex, and reproduction frontier town. Darreck, who loves all things ghost related, was excited to see the prison, but even he admitted it was super creepy after awhile. We continued on to have lunch and do some quick shopping in Helena before hurrying home to a PTA dinner that drug on for an insane 4 hours. Ugh. It was an abrupt end to an otherwise perfect weekend.

My parents survived the having the boys for a night- but just barely. I think they found out the hard way what it's really like to have three little boys. It's not for the faint of heart! (BTW, Luke started a fire in the microwave this  morning. Fun times!) Jack systematically ignored me for the first little bit, but by the time night rolled around, he wouldn't let me go. It's been almost two weeks, and he still isn't sleeping well. He just wants held and cuddled all night long. It was a great weekend, but we're definitely paying for it now. Still worth it!
