I have been plagued by inconveniences this pregnancy. Luckily, nothing has been major or dangerous for me or the baby, just kinda uncomfortable. For starters, I have carpal tunnel in both wrists, which makes playing both violin and organ difficult. Then, two weeks ago, my abdominal wall split (diastasis recti) and transferred all the weight of supporting my torso to my back. Given my history with back problems, this wasn't such great news. I haven't been in much pain, but everything has just been really, really uncomfortable. I'm not allowed to pick Max up, and walking any type of distance has been painful. I wouldn't mind so much if I just had a few weeks to go, but I still have four months (hopefully, if the contractions will mellow out a little). So, when my doctor suggested physical therapy, I was more than happy to try it.
Which leads me to the silver lining. As apprehensive as I was about physical therapy, it's pretty much the best thing ever to happen to pregnancy. I get message therapy, electrical therapy, ultrasound on my wrists, and spinal realignment every session, and it feels incredible. I am so thankful for modern medicine and insurance right now, I can't even express it in words. My life has become so much happier and all over such a small change in my routine. I think physical therapy must be what the prophets have in mind when they say "tender mercies of the Lord". It certainly feels merciful to me.

New Pictures
I haven't posted pictures since Christmas- bad mommy moment. So, here are just a few to enjoy! The first is Darreck and Max enjoying our surprisingly mild winter a few weeks ago. The second picture is my mom and Max cuddling and, yes, he still has the binkie. Third is my boys making a snowman while I was at a doctor's appointment this morning, and the last is from our trip to Cardston a few weeks ago.

It's a BOY!!!!
We went in this morning for my 20 week ultrasound, and peanut was busy, active and mostly definitely a boy! The first thing the tech asked us was whether we wanted to know the sex and, after giving her an empathetic yes, it was the first thing she saw on the scan. He is very, very proud of the fact he is a he!
I should also mention that everything else on the scan looked good, and we were even able to tell that we are having another big baby (so far). He's tipping the scale at 14.6 ounces, or he's in the 77.8th percentile. We grow them big very quickly, apparently. We'll find out more when we see the doctor on Wednesday.
Everyone I meet the lately has been asking me if we had a feeling whether we were having a boy or a girl, and I honestly had no idea whatsoever. With Max I was very definitive that he was a boy, but I couldn't even guess this time. We would have been super excited either way (obviously), but I feel a sense of relief knowing it's a boy. I know what to do with boys, and we already have the clothes- lots and lots and lots of clothes left over from Max.
Also, we already had the perfect name picked out for a boy which is... something we're going to sit on for a few more days ;) Sorry, but we want to be totally sure before we announce it to the world. Soon, I promise!

The Best Weekend in a Looong Time
I know it's Thursday, and the weekend is almost here again, but I had to share what we did last weekend.
Darreck's bff- Timothy Allred- was born on Leap Day (February 29th) so he celebrated his 8th birthday this year, so he decided he wanted to get baptized! So funny, and so ironic, and so perfect. His wife, Ashley, planned a trip for us and a few more friends to stay with her parents Friday night and then do baptisms in the temple Saturday morning. At first the trip seemed a little doomed. My family was supposed to go as well, but then Kayla was feeling sick and Max wasn't doing so hot, either. After fretting for awhile, mom told Darreck and I to go and leave Max with them overnight.
Now, I have to interrupt here with a little side story. We've only ever left Max overnight once before, and we were in town the entire time (it was New Years), so I was a little unsure of this plan at first. Not only would we be leaving the little man, we would also be in a different country where we couldn't use our cell phones. It was about enough to give me a heart attack, but I persevered and only checked in once the entire 27 hours we were gone. Go me.
Back to the trip. Ashley's parents were great, but the highlight was the temple trip. Neither Darreck nor I had done baptisms since we were youth, and it was such a neat experience to be back doing them again. It was also really inspiring for me to see the youth there serving. Of all the things they could have been doing on an early Saturday morning, they were choosing to serve in the temple. What a great example! Darreck and I were also able to do an endowment session after the baptisms, and it was so nice being there with him. It was everything the temple should be (and usually is)- quiet, peaceful, and restorative. The best part of serving in the temple is that it always gives me a better perspective on my life and the decisions I'm making. Serving in the temple is my guidepost to make sure I'm staying on the right track.
Probably the best part of the entire trip, however, was just getting the opportunity to talk in the car. Darreck and I have been together for six and a half years now, and I love that we never run out of things to talk about. As much as I missed Max, weekends away are good for us and good for our marriage, and I'm so grateful to Allreds for getting us to go and to my parents for watching Max.
