Kinda-Sorta Birthday Party
Yesterday we had a kinda-sorta birthday party for Darreck's mom, Pennie. Her birthday isn't actually until May 20th, but no one seemed to have any time around her actual birthday to have a party. Darreck's family is often like that; actual dates don't matter much so birthdays and holidays are celebrated whenever. It's still a little weird to me, but I don't have many other options than to go along. Besides, May is going to be really busy. April seemed to crawl by, but May is going to bring Darreck's graduation, our 3D ultrasound, Max's birthday, and Grandma-Great coming home. There is literally something major every week of May, which should (in theory) make for good blogging if I can keep up with it. The other advantage to packing a lot into the next few months is that it should make time go a little faster. Not that I don't looove being pregnant (note the strong sarcasm), but I really wish I could just wake up and have tomorrow be July 20th or so. I usually don't wish time away, especially with Max still being so little, but I'd be willing to make an exception for the third trimester.

Spring Break and Potty Training
I've gotten so bad about updating the blog! But, we have been pretty busy lately. Spring break was last week, and we tackled a bunch of projects since Darreck was home. I'm trying to get everything in order before I hit my third trimester and stop wanting to do anything. I'm trying to ride the nesting wave while I still have the energy to do something. So far we've painted the trim in the basement, reorganized every closet, and set up the extra bedroom. Nothing feels better than having an orderly house.
We also received our order of cloth diapers this past week. For health and environmental and economical reasons we've decided to cloth diaper the soon to be born little one, and I've been super excited to start. I got some wonderful advice from some wonderful friends, and the diapers we bought are so cool and so high tech. No diaper pins and wet pails for us :)
And, last but most certainly not least, we've been potty training Max man this past week. He has to be fully potty trained to start preschool in the fall, and we figured he might need a few months to transition. As apprehensive as we were about the process, Max has been a little super star since the very first day. He's still not great at doing number 2, but we haven't had any wetting accidents since the first day. Yeah!!! So happy for him and so happy for us!

Hoppy Easter :)
Happy Easter everyone! We had a great celebration this weekend, highlighted by daddy being on spring break. Saturday morning we found that the Easter bunny had visited the night before and brought Max a new water table, which he's been wanting for months now. After laying out towels on the kitchen floor, we played with the water table for awhile then went to the mall with grandma and papa. My personal Easter bunny, mom, insisted I get some better shoes to help with my back pain, and it turned into quite the shoe shopping trip. Later that evening, we went to an egg hunt/potluck at a friend's house. Max had a blast finding eggs! He was running around the yard with all his little might, snatching up eggs. Hilarious :) We capped off the evening by returning to grandma and papa's to dye Easter eggs, a first for Max. He kept trying to break them on the table, so his egg turned out, uhhhh, interesting... and probably inedible. But he had fun!!!
Today we attended church and had a beautiful time
rejoicing in the love of our Savior. The Easter bunny is nice, and I wish we had a lot less candy laying around, but we should never forget the true reason for Easter. Max came home from nursery today and kept repeating "the stone was rolled away, mom, it was gone!". I'm so thankful for wonderful leaders who help my child to understand the importance of the Atonement and the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I hope our family always remembers.
