Easter

Today we celebrated Easter, one of our favorite family holidays. It's such a privilege to celebrate the resurrection and atoning sacrifice of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As a family, we really try to emphasis the Savior in our celebration and not the Easter bunny, so even though we did a small Easter egg hunt today, we didn't do Easter baskets or toys. It was a much better experience for everyone.

The one different thing today, however, was that we had stake conference instead of regular church. I missed having the more intimate scale of our regular ward meetings, but today's message was mostly about the Savior so it was all good. The boys did remarkably well during the two hour session, even though Grandma and Grandpa and Kayla were on the stand singing in the choir. Thank heavens for Grandma-Great! We need all the help we can get during church.

Dinner was the standard ham, funeral potatoes, green bean casserole, jello, and rolls. Mom did go all out on the dessert and made us a bunny cake, which Max helped decorate a little. In true Sangray/Holt tradition, it wouldn't be a holiday without the food. After dinner we watched The Wizard of Oz as a family while the boys intermittently played outside. It was a beautiful day, which was nothing short of a tender mercy given our harsh winter. Spring really does feel like a season of rebirth and renewal this year, and we are ever so grateful for the warmer weather. Luke especially has been hankering for the chance to get outside; I've never seen a kid who wanted to spend so much time outside! I'm pretty sure we could set up a tent and he'd be perfectly content to never come in again. We love our boys, we love our Lord, and we're thankful for this Easter Sunday.
