Yesterday was supposed to be Max's final T Ball game, but it was rained out. We had a torrential downpour all last night and early into the morning, and by the time the game rolled around, third base was still underwater. I had my camera all ready, and I was so psyched to get some final shots of our little baseball star. Apparently it wasn't meant to be. Instead, we met up with my parents and grandma at Pizza Hut and enjoyed eating out. Not quite as good as baseball, but sometimes you have to make due with second best.
Watching Max in T Ball this year has been kind of fun- kind of. He did really well, when he managed to stay on his feet and quit playing in the dirt. He's a great little hitter, and he did some good fielding. He also spent his fair share of time chasing bugs and looking at the clouds and daydreaming. Turns out, though, that's pretty typical five year old behavior- most of his team was exactly the same way. His entire team did improve as the season went on, and we were proud of his improving skills. His coach was okay, but the assistant coach was excellent about helping each player develop. We're so thankful for good coaching!
Hopefully he'll want to play again next year. We sure had fun supporting him as a family! It was hard for me to miss so many games due to my teaching schedule, but that's what you get when you schedule a sport for May. In general, May was crazy all around, and we're all enjoying the more laid-back summer vibe in June.
