We had an AMAZING Christmas Eve this year. In fact, all of Christmas was great this year!!!! One of the best :)
We started out Christmas Eve day by cleaning the house, but it gets better. We spent the afternoon at Hale's house celebrating both Christmas and Ben's birthday. He turns 17 on the 27th, but we decided to celebrate while everyone was together. We ate pizza and cake, opened presents, and then sat around talking. It was relaxing and a lot of fun. Max was ecstatic: he got two huge toy dinosaurs. They're really cool!
We spent the rest of the evening at my parent's house. We had our traditional appetizers for dinner, opened one present, then went out to look at lights. We also watched the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's Christmas special, and it was a nice way to remember the true meaning of Christmas. The special shared the story of Good King Wenceslas, which none of us had heard before, and I really want to find a way to incorporate it into our yearly traditions.
We finished up the evening at home where we made our annual fire and opened our family presents. Well, most of us opened presents- Luke slept through it :) Both boys got plenty of home made presents this year, and it was a fun new tradition that I'm sure we'll continue for years to come. Darreck and I stayed up late roasting marshmallows over the open fire (forget chestnuts!) and watching Elf. Perfect end to a great day!
